Bonsai Wire
Bonsai wire is very much instrumental in the process of styling your bonsai. Almost all well designed bonsais have used bonsai wires at some point in their growth. Though a mind-boggling technique to master initially, the bonsai wiring gives the gardener or hobbyists a better control over the trunk and twigs of the bonsai.
By coiling wire around the branches of the bonsai, the grower is able to twist or bend the tree into a desired position upon which the wire holds it. Within weeks or months, the branch or trunk stays in the desired position even after the wire is taken away.
With the use of bonsai tree wire, straight trunks or branches get more natural movement. Young branches can be wired horizontally or vertically to give them the look of maturity. Foliage or branching can be manipulated to ‘fill in’ vacant area of the canopy, formed by the trees. Without wiring, the gardener will have to wait for the shoots’ natural growth.
Best quality Bonsai plant wire is available at Bonsai boy nursery. It comes in as anodised aluminium or annealed copper. Aluminium wire is generally handy for beginners and it can be reused, even though this is not suggested. Copper wire is harder to use but has more controlling power. It can’t be reused once it is has got into a position. Wire cutters are also essential while using wire. Cutters are used for removing wire from branches and for cutting the required length of wire.
