Bonsai Pots – Where to Grow them
Have you ever seen a bonsai grown directly from the earth or planted in a garden? Me, Nah, I have yet to see one. I don’t even know if that is possible. You see, most if not all bonsai plants are grown in bonsai pots and not just any ordinary pot, bonsai plants are grown in small pots to facilitate their miniature growth.
Bonsai pots come in many different shapes, made of different materials, appear in many different colors and have varied small sizes. Literally when we think of pots for bonsai plants, we always assume that it is made of clay. But almost anything can be considered as a bonsai pot. Take for instance a hollowed-out log. Just shape it a little and clean it, voila! You now have a homemade bonsai pot. Another idea would be a homemade cedar box. You can grab some cans of hand paint and decorate the pot yourself. Within minutes, you will have a handpainted bonsai pot. For more individuality, you can also buy earthenware at your nearest store and be the one to design it using hand paint again. Handpainted bonsai pots really look great and hand paint really works well with earthenware.
As mentioned, almost any kind of container can be transformed into a bonsai pot. But before you can do that, here are some things you should consider before making your bonsai pots. Your intended pot must be 2/3 the height of your bonsai tree, wide pots give a serene and calm feeling, for cascade style plants, your pot must have a narrow opening, the colors of your bonsai pot must also complement the type of bonsai plant you want and you should also not forget that a bonsai pot is not permanent, you constantly have to repot as your bonsai plant matures.
