Azalea bonsai

The azalea bonsai really is quite popular out of all the different types of bonsai trees available. Why? The main reason is the beautiful flowers it produces which are close to 7 inches in diameter. This is by far one of the most spectacular of the bonsai trees, the flowers usually show up in late spring and the colors are vibrant and great for displaying to family and friends.

There are many different styles you will come across when it comes to the shape of the tree, such as the semi-cascade, root over rock, ifnromal upright and windswept slanting

To care for this type of tree you will want to get rid of any of the flowers which are dead and same thing for the leaves as fast as possible otherwise it will suck out the life from the other healthy parts of the tree. When seasoning ends be sure to remove or train it yearly. Secondary shoots will need to be pruned back when you hit around the middle of summer and as for soil you are going to want to use life free mixes as the Azalea is part of the Rhondodendron faily and it relies heavily on acidic soil.  Be sure to place this in partial shade and protect it from weighty rain or cold frost most definately in the seaon where it begins to flower.
